I started off writing a very “I know what I’m doing” column style post about working through fatigue, writers block and social agreements to finish your damn book…. But I ended up being talked out of it by a friend of mine and was advised to just write how I feel and how I’m managing it all, in my own words.
So here I am, I’m writing this blog as a form of procrastination because my story is driving me nuts and I’m struggling to get the chapters to flow together the way I want them to… The characters have stopped talking to me…
And of course, Not all the characters have stopped talking to me, just the ones that pertain to this specific book! *Slams head on desk*
Can someone please tell the elf and fairy to stop for a few minutes? I don’t have the energy to deal with them at the moment… Thanks…
Originally, (and planned since last weekends cold/flu epidemic) I was taking this entire weekend to print, read, re-write and then, re-print my current “Top Priority” novel. And sip a few thousand cups of tea while I was at it 😉 But like 90% of all things I try to plan… things change.
Travel plans have been added to my schedule, which means packing and rethinking my plans for the week. And of course, totally throwing out my weekend chill plans due to my brain doing nothing but thinking about driving, traffic, packing light, and Bruiser.
And I may be binge watching Sex and the City again… lol
Ok, so really. My goal plan , despise all my distractions (the real ones and the ones I’m making up) is to still get at least half of my re-writing done this weekend.
The plan of attack:
- Read your current chapters
- Compile notes on possible changes and/or things that need to be added
- Put all notes into a folder (either on your laptop or physical file )
- Re-write your character index cards
- Start. Your. Re-Write
And then I have to remind myself not to forget these notes when I leave town so I can keep working on my re-write while I’m hotel-ing it.
So, what are your Go-To motions for “Getting your writing done” over a busy weekend? Or even, throughout a busy week when you still need sleep, food and of course… work a day job?
First make you happy .. yah it’ll work 👍👍👍✌️
